Our Schach and Sukkah Roofs

We apply great care when constructing our sukkahs. But the most important part of our sukkahs is the schach. We make sure that the materials used for schach are of natural fibre and meet all of the halachik requirements:

 

Basic Laws of Schach:

• Materials used should be from vegetation or have been grown from the ground.
• The branches should be cut from the tree or ground where it had full-grown.
• One must avoid using branches with a foul odour, or anything that will discourage individuals from entering the sukkah.
• Use of wooden planks may be acceptable, as long as they are not wider than 5 cm.
• The material should be able to withstand wind and should not be tied down. Opinions vary as to how one might secure their schach.

• Schach must cover the sukkah in such a way that it provides shade thick, heavy shade but can allow for the stars of the sky to be slightly visible.

 

Every sukkah built by Luxury Sukkahs utilizes Schach which meets the highest Mehadrin requirements for a sukkah roof and comes with a Rabbinical stamp of approval.
